Eid Mubarak...

So it's been a while since I have written anything, though I doubt much people will be reading this... But nonetheless I have been quite busy in my realistic life, plus time flies so fast.. Look now, it's almost Eid... So while I gather my thoughts and make time to write something meaningful, I would just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone (Muslims and non-Muslims) a very blessed Eid! Many Eid be filled with smiles and love from near and dear ones. Do remember me in your duas and my upcoming marriage, as I will definitely remember you, you and you.

Fathers and their Daughters...

Father's Day was last month- delayed post I know, but I received a very interesting sms during that time and thought I'd share it with guys for your opinion, though I think there is some truth to it... But you can be the judge for that...

Little Bridemaids...

You know every little thing counts in a wedding- from the toothpick to the cake... everyone has a dream wedding, be it big or small, cheap or expensive. The other day I read in some Islamic paper about huge amounts of money being spent on lavish weddings and a few days later the marriage is broken, also couples who know each other for years before tying the knot have resorted to divorce after a few months... But what about those people who don't know each other at all? What about those people who don't have a lavish wedding? It's all biased... Mostly my extended family have a way of saying these things- however the other part of my family is very excited, my nieces especially since they going to be my bridesmaids with little tiaras and corsages... and they going to be cuter than the baby in the photo...

But anyways, with all that said and done- keeping it simple, elegant and modern I'm going to have it my way...

My humble apologies...

I am sorry, I did not post anything in the last two months- not that it would matter actually because its a blog.... I even forgot my own blog address...
But I've been hectically busy busy busy... I have literally become an ice cube in JHB, and in Durban I'm melting no faster than dry ice...

Now I realised that as soon as Ramadaan hits, I am going to be very close to my wedding, which by the way is now set for April 2010 inshallah... so be prepared to hear alot of rants and rave on my blog about ranting and raving... and hey I'll throw in a few tips for the girls... As for the guys- just direct yourself to Killa...

Before I sign off a big big big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Nooj and my closest, dearest and bestest friend MARIAM (yes the one on my facebook status)... Hope you guys had an awesome day with hot chocolate cake on this blistering cold day...

For you, a thousand times over...

The best book I read so far... The Kite Runner.

Honestly I cried, not at the scene when young Hassan was sodomised, but at his and Amir's behaviour after it happened. If this is what the book did too me, I can imagine the movie...

The book revolves around social norms, caste consciousness and sexual abuse.

I just couldn't believe that children knew what sodomy was... even in those days... In my mind I could just picture Hassan wiping away his tears and snort...

What I want to know is, the letter that Rahim Khan wrote to Amir after he returned from Afghanistan with Sohrab, he mentioned that he knew all along what Amir had done and Hassan told him after it happened... What was Rahim Khan referring to- the sodomy or the false accusation on Hassan?

The book felt so real yet it was all fiction.. As if Amir wrote his autobiography...

A father's love for two sons, equal yet different... From what Afghan was to what is it now... And from where they came to where they went... Changes over the years, realisation and a real eye opener to the Taliban....

I hope that one day Khaled Hosseni would write The Kite Runner from Hassan's point of view...

Blog Meet...

This was fun... Was great to meet the faces behind the blogs...
Kay and Myself were the first to be there... the rest strolled in on their own time...
I should've realised Bilal's idea of 10h00 is about 11h30, and KiLLa's theory of JB's corner was somewhere in Fordsburg...
My Fiance accompanied me, and didn't know I had a blog or what a blog is....
I met a few bloggers I didn't know about and was really nice to see the old ones again...
The next blog meet will be planned well in advance and more co-ordinated, by me ofcourse...
p.s: why didn't we take photos?!
